Computed Tomography (CT Scan)

CT Scan uses a X-ray to create very fine slices of images of different organs, bones and other body parts. It is a contrast or non -contrast based depending on the parts of the body to be scanned.

CT is generally used to diagnose different conditions like

  • Abdomen, Renal or Pelvis pathologies
  • Mass or Tumors in the body
  • Injuries to the bones, head and other body organs
  • Different spinal conditions
  • Arthritis, Gout, fractures etc.

DEXA / Bone Densiometry (BMD)

A DEXA/BMD scan is a low energy X-ray procedure to measure the density or thickness of the bones. It is the most accurate procedure to measure the bone density.

It is a painless procedure and it takes only 15-20 minutes to scan.

  • Bones x ray Carrum Downs Bones
  • Abdomen x ray Abdomen
  • Different Body Parts x ray Different body parts

General X-rays are most common diagnostic imaging test. X-ray machine produce short, focused burst of X-ray towards concerned part of the patient’s body to acquire image.

X-rays are commonly used to see bones, spine, chest, abdomen and different parts of the body.

Our qualified and experienced Radiographer will position the body part that is being examined.

X-rays are non invasive, easy and quick imaging test.

Ultrasound

Services

Ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique which does not emit radiation. So, it is considered a very safe technique. Ultrasound tranducer (probe) transmits high frequency sound waves to view structures and organs inside our body. It is useful to see different abdominal organs, pelvic organs, tendons & ligaments and other soft tissues very effectively. Ultrasound imaging is also really useful to direct a needle at precise point during musculoskeletal injections, fluid aspiration and also to perform biopsy.

During ultrasound procedure, a gel is applied on the skin. This ultrasound gel doesn’t stain or smell and it is completely safe. Ultrasound gel enables ultrasound waves to receive and effectively transmit these soundwaves into the body to capture the required images.

Examination is generally takes 20 minutes to 30 minutes for general and musculoskeletal study but doppler study and pregnancy study may take a longer time. Different preparation is required for different ultrasound study like abdominal scan requires fasting while renal, pelvis and pregnancy scan requires full bladder. You will be specifically instructed for the preparation for your study while booking. You may get more information under patient preparation guidelines. But any point of time, if you have any questions you are free to contact our friendly staff.

Results will not be shared or discussed after examination. Detailed report will be prepared and send to your referred GP/ Specialist. Report generally takes working 24- 48 hours to reach to your doctor. But urgent report will be prepared as soon as possible and will be shared with your doctor electronically.
